Morrissey was engaged to design the first Philadelphia location for Haraz Coffee House, a Yemeni coffee brand originally founded in Dearborn, Michigan. Located near the University of Pennsylvania, the site—a former Starbucks—was completely transformed into a vibrant, urban café infused with subtle Arab detailing.
Drawing from Haraz’s cultural roots, the design celebrates the rich traditions of Yemeni coffee while offering a warm, modern space for the surrounding community. The result is a welcoming third space where guests can gather with friends, celebrate special moments, or simply unwind with a cup of specialty Yemeni coffee or traditional pastries.
This project marks the beginning of Haraz’s expansion into the Philadelphia market, establishing a distinctive and culturally grounded presence in the city.
